Case Study

The case study  examines the distribution of ethnic Chinese throughout Southeast Asia and the impact of their presence throughout Southeast Asia’s history.  Students may already be familiar with the European impact on this region, but the Chinese are often overlooked as colonizers. In Southeast Asia, however, the Chinese have had a much longer impact than the Europeans, and in many ways, this impact is much more systemic – even if it may appear to be more subtle.
