Powerful Geography represents a new way of teaching and learning geography. It empowers teachers to make decisions on what to teach and makes connections between geography content and students' aspirations for future careers and community involvement. Powerful Geography was created by the National Center for Research in Geography Education and the Grosvenor Center for Geographic Education, and it provides teachers with meaningful ways to address Career and College Readiness Standards as well as helping teachers create more student-centered classrooms.

Teachers will receive 1.5 hours professional development hours and will be provided with numerous resources for implementing Powerful Geography in their classrooms. Upon completion of the workshop, teachers will be given the opportunity to participate in research regarding the implementation of Powerful Geography.
