5:30-6:30PM: The Bobcat Stream Team will be hosting special guest Madi Mitchell at Sewell Park to teach about riparian evaluation and monitoring the health of the river.
Mission and Goals
Bobcat Stream Team (BST) is an interdisciplinary, registered student organization at Texas State University, founded in August 2016. We offer training in water quality monitoring to help protect and maintain the health of Texas waterways, including those in the Texas State University and San Marcos community.
BST works to advance student interest in watershed awareness by educational outreach about the importance of water resource protection, provide students with hands-on professional experience that may further their future careers, and help students build necessary professional skills such as organization, leadership, teamwork and communication. Environmental Conservation Organization
ECO was formally known as the National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP). NAEP was the group that was the key proponent of installing the environmental service fee ($1 per semester out of tuition toward environmental projects) in 2003.
ECO strives to carry on this legacy by coordinating with the ESC through our organization and providing the resources for our members to make proposals of their own or with the group.

Mission and Goals
The Environmental Conservation Organization, or ECO, is a diverse group of students who all share a common appreciation for the environment. Through our intentions and our actions we encourage progress and growth towards a global sustainable future.
Our mission is to promote sustainability in all forms and to focus on minimizing local and environmental degradation to the best of our ability through education, activism, and community service. We want ECO’s presence in San Marcos to bring about positive changes that aim to protect and preserve our natural environment."
We seek to facilitate environmental awareness among Texas State Students through outreach, field trips, and guest speakers from environmentally focused fields. We also offer various service opportunities to provide a large range of fun and hands-on ways to get into the local community and make a difference. Past service events include: Past service events include Adopt-a-Spot, Kayak river clean ups, Rasmey's Gardening, Bobcat Build, Great Texas River Clean up, Earth Day, and many more!

Gamma Theta Upsilon
Gamma Theta Upsilon (GTU) is an international honor society in geography. Gamma Theta Upsilon was founded in 1928 and became a national organization in 1931. GTU works with local conservation groups, hosts geography professionals as speakers, and attends related conferences. Members of GTU have met academic requirements and share a background and interest in geography.

GTU is a student organization of undergraduate and graduate students in the Department of Geography. GTU was developed:
- To further professional interest in geography by affording a common organization for those interested in the field
- To strengthen student and professional training through academic experiences in addition to those of the classroom
- To advance the status of Geography as a cultural and practical discipline for study and investigation
- To encourage student research of high quality, and to promote an outlet for publication
- To create and administer funds for furthering graduate study and/or research in the field of Geography

Our mission at SUPO is to create an environment for anyone who is interested in urban planning to learn more about the career through hands-on experience. By going on trips, inviting guest speakers, and volunteer events, SUPO aims to go beyond the reaches of the classroom to provide a glimpse into what the field of urban geography has to offer.

Society For Geography Information Science (SOGIS)
The Society for Geographic Information Science is a member of the Geography Organizations Council (GOC), which includes Gamma Theta Upsilon (GTU), River Inspired Student Effort (RINSE), Environmental Conservation Organization (ECO), Supporting Women in Geography (SWIG), Student Urban Planners Organization (SUPO), Geology Club, and the Graduate Student Forum.
SOGIS promotes GIS geography, networks with GIS professionals in a wide range of fields, shares internship and job opportunities on various forums, and designs projects. SOGIS organizes and hosts TXST GIS Day annually in November.

Supporting Women in Geography (SWIG) is a professional education and development organization centered around aiding Geography and Environmental Studies majors or adjacent students in exploring all facets of geography so they may discover their professional and academic interests. We provide students with the ability to connect with other professionals and gain insights on our futures while getting involved in the community.
