NCRGE accepts applications for RCN membership from individual researchers, organizations, and universities in the U.S. and abroad. There is no cost to becoming a member. All you need to do is complete the application.
National Center for Research in Geography Education RCN
The National Center for Research in Geography Education (NCRGE) is a research consortium for transformative research in geography education. NCRGE’s mission is to build capacity for research that advances theory, deepens knowledge, challenges thinking, & supports evidence-based practices in geo ed.
In 2016, the National Science Foundation awarded a grant (NSF Award BCS-1560862) to the National Center for Research in Geography Education (NCRGE) for a five-year research coordination network (RCN) project. Six goals specify the aims of this RCN:
- Catalyze research planning with strong potential to result in transformative research projects in geography education.
- Facilitate collaborative research among geographers and STEM education researchers.
- Attract more diverse cohorts of graduate students to Ph.D. programs in Geography Education.
- Increase research productivity and the knowledge base in geography education.
- Long-term growth and stability of the RCN.
- Promote the use of research to improve practice in geography education.
