The Grosvenor Center hosted the 3rd Leadership Academy. This Leadership Academy brought students from the online PhD program for a full day of discussion about Powerful Geography and ways to expand its reach led by PhD students Skylar Slaughter & Bren Vander Weil.
Dr. Zadrozny presented at ESC Region One's Summer Institute for Project L3. They received the American History and Civics National Activities Grant from the U.S. Department of Education Office of Elementary and Secondary Education. TAGE is a partner on this grant.
The third recipient of the Val Wilkie Jr. Award or Excellence in Teaching Geography award was Nathan DuPont, a world geography teacher at the Advanced Learning Academy in San Antonio, TX.
Powerful Geography: International Perspectives and Applications is published. This book presents the evolution of Powerful Geography to teaching and learning in the United States and how the approach can be adapted and implemented in other countries.
We collaborated with LLILAS at UT Austin on Powerful Geography to develop a teaching unit focused on coffee production in Latin America. The unit includes four lessons focused on the following topics: physical geography, economics, culture, and sustainability.
