Dr. Zadrozny provided a professional development workshop on Project GO and Powerful Geography at Education Service Center Region 1 - Edinburg. It was a great turn out from teachers all along the southern border of Texas!
Dr. Zadrozny hosted professional development workshops across the state sharing Powerful Geography. Workshops include Waxahacie ISD (March), ESC Region 10 and 11 - Richardson and Fort Worth (May), ESC Region 9 - Wichita Falls (July), and Aledo ISD (July).
Geography educators, senior scholars, and three cohorts of the online PhD in geographic education came to participate in a Leadership Academy focused around current issues in geography education and the research and teaching responsibilities of the PhDs.
Stacie Aguirre joins the Grosvenor Center family as the new manager of the Texas Alliance for Geographic Education. Stacie has a decade plus of experience in the geography classroom and we are excited to have her join and share with you her ideas.
In honor of Valleau Wilkie Jr.'s memory and donations, “The Val Wilkie Jr. Award for Excellence in Teaching Geography” was established. The inaugural recipient of the Val Wilkie Jr. Award was Nicole Vickerman, a world geography teacher in Plano ISD.
Boehm and Zadrozny presented at the Texas Social Studies Supervisors Association Conference in Austin.
Boehm, Solem, & Zadrozny hosted two virtual panels during the AAG Conference. First on Powerful Geography. Second on AP Human Geography and the commissioned work group and research activities.
