Grosvenor Scholar is established
A $1,000,000 endowment was established to support the Grosvenor Scholar Programs which sponsored a Ph.D. student to spend one year at NGS headquarters. Under a revised MOU in 2018, the Grosvenor Center now employs a Grosvenor Research Scholar.

National Geographic continues to support the Grosvenor Center with two endowments, totaling more than $2 million.

Texas State offers first 100% Online Ph.d. Degree
Grosvenor Center faculty create an online Ph.D. program in geographic education that is approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board in Fall 2020.
